Uploaded 12th March 2024. This is a 1998 collection of Electro Punk Darkwave Industrial Gothic Electronica Rock - Independent Underground Artists from Australia [including 7 from my home city of Canberra] and 2 from the USA.

This was originally released on CDR in 1998; with a slightly different track order.

Around 500 copies were made - created 1 by 1 on home CD burners, which were a new revolutionary thing in 1998. My CD burner cost $1500!!! Within a few years they were <$100. lol

A CDR compilation was a new and exciting project for underground music artists, who had until then relied on cassette-tapes or expensive factory-pressed CD runs to distribute their music.

It was a lot of work - around 500 CD burns and packing the parcels - doing all that via mail order.

At that time there was a worldwide underground network of 'zines and labels. We would all share flyers for other projects in the letters and parcels we'd send around. That's how flyers for this CD and the Blatant Propaganda 'zine were distributed all around the world. And people sent letters with the equivalent of $5 from around Australia, across Europe, across North and South America.

The person who became my spouse in late 2000 found a flyer for this CD on the floor of a nightclub in New Jersey USA in 1998. After 18 months of letters, emails and phone calls she moved to Australia.

Things changed - caused the demise of the mail order networks - in the early-mid-2000s when lots of people had joined the internet and were using early social media sites like Live Journal and then MySpace.
